THE INTERREGNUM PROCESS

-Removing yourself from life

-Embracing the shadow work

-Return authentic, aligned and empowered

Many people ask, How can a life truly change in just seven days? The answer is both simple and profound. The original Sanctuary in the UK was a four-day retreat, and even in that short time, the results were incredible.

Oli, the founder, created the Sanctuary in a beautifully converted barn that doubled as his home. Guests would come and live with him for four days at a time, creating a deep sense of connection and trust. What Oli discovered was that the key wasn’t how long someone stayed—it was the clarity, understanding, and support they received during and after their stay that made all the difference.

Unlike traditional 30-day rehabs, which often create a temporary mental respite by removing someone from their familiar environment, the Sanctuary focuses on understanding the root cause of your struggles. Addiction or destructive habits are never the true problem—it’s the deeper ‘why’ behind the need that must be uncovered. Once that need is understood, its power disappears.

With the new site in Pennsylvania, the Sanctuary has expanded to seven days, offering even more time to go deeper while allowing space to process every life-changing revelation. Before you arrive, you’ll have six hours of Zoom sessions to help you prepare whilst building trust and rapport. During your stay, you’ll have your own private cottage, surrounded by peaceful grounds where you can reflect and recharge. The extended retreat means we can take everything at a gentler pace, ensuring each breakthrough is fully understood and integrated into your life.

And it doesn’t end there. The Sanctuary places immense importance on aftercare, offering ongoing support and guidance to help you stay on track. Many guests don’t even need to rely on this support—but knowing it’s there provides the strength and confidence to navigate life with resilience and control.

The Sanctuary isn’t just about stepping away from your life for a week—it’s about stepping back into your life with clarity, empowerment, and the tools to face any challenge. On your return, It will be the heart and head making key heartfelt decisions. Allowing you to be the observer of The Mind without feeling the need to interact with the chaotic narrative. You’ll leave not just transformed but fully equipped to create lasting change.

KEY POINTS

  • Just like plants and trees, they all start from seed. And just like woodland saplings and shrubbery, they adapt and are products of their own environment.

Generational trauma is the unseen thread of pain and experiences passed down through families, shaping how we think, feel, and interact with the world. From a spiritual and holistic perspective, it’s not just about inherited patterns but also the energetic imprints of unresolved emotions and stories carried across lifetimes. These burdens may show up as fear, limiting beliefs, or a deep sense of disconnection, even if we don't fully understand their origins. Healing generational trauma is an act of love and courage—an invitation to break cycles, honor the struggles of those who came before, and liberate ourselves and future generations. Through compassionate awareness, mindfulness, and practices that nurture mind, body, and spirit, we can gently release these patterns, reclaim our truth, and embrace a life rooted in wholeness and freedom.

  • The difference between the mind and the brain is profound, yet often misunderstood. The brain is a physical organ, responsible for all our cognitive functions, motor skills, and vital bodily processes. It keeps us alive, pumps blood throughout our body, and regulates our basic survival functions. The brain is the instrument that allows us to think, move, and interact with the world. For example, if you wish to write a poem, your brain plays a vital role in processing your thoughts and translating them into words on paper. It allows the connection between your heart—the source of your feelings—and your actions, bringing your emotions into cognitive form.

The mind, however, is something entirely different. It is not a physical entity like the brain; it is a complex network of thoughts, emotions, and protective mechanisms. The mind is built for protection. From an early age, the mind forms in response to negative experiences, particularly when we encounter overwhelming emotions that we are unprepared to process. When we face traumatic or difficult events, the mind creates coping mechanisms to shield us from pain. For example, if a child experiences emotional neglect or bullying, the mind might build walls of self-protection—through defense mechanisms like withdrawal, anger, or suppressing emotions altogether. These mental processes are meant to protect us from further emotional harm, but they can also lead to destructive patterns.

As we grow, these protective mechanisms evolve. In school, for instance, we may learn to hide our true feelings to fit in or avoid conflict. We may start to believe that we must behave in a certain way to survive in social or familial environments. If we were neglected or abused as children, the mind might continue to develop patterns of self-protection, such as becoming hypervigilant, avoiding intimacy, or constantly seeking approval. These patterns, initially intended to safeguard us, can turn into destructive habits that limit our ability to grow, connect, and live authentically. Over time, they can become so ingrained that we no longer recognize them for what they are: survival strategies formed in the past, not the present reality.

At Renaissance Sanctuary, we focus on the distinction between the brain and the mind. By understanding how the mind has been protecting us, we can begin to step outside of it and become observers of the patterns and thoughts that have shaped our behavior. For example, if you notice yourself reaching for unhealthy habits, like overeating or engaging in addictive behaviors, the mind is often at play. It may be responding to fear, stress, or past trauma. The mind creates impulses that try to control us, steering us toward comfort and familiarity—even if those actions no longer serve our highest good. When we learn to observe the mind without identifying with it, we begin to dismantle its hold over us.

The true breakthrough comes when we can disengage from the mind’s protective urges and allow our brain’s cognitive function to navigate our true emotions. By doing so, we can stop reacting out of fear and start responding from a place of clarity and understanding. We learn to feel our emotions fully and process them in a healthy way. Instead of letting the mind’s fear-based reactions control us, we can use the power of the brain—our cognitive ability—to make conscious choices, express ourselves authentically, and heal from past wounds.

Through this process, the mind’s protective mechanisms lose their grip, and we are free to reconnect with our true selves, unburdened by the trauma of our past. The journey at Renaissance Sanctuary is one of understanding this distinction and using it to create lasting, positive change in our lives.

  • In life, we all have a past, a present, and a future. The past, while it no longer holds us physically, shapes who we are today. It defines us through the experiences, the challenges, and the memories that have brought us to this moment. The future, on the other hand, can feel overwhelming—sometimes, it pulls us forward with excitement and anticipation, but often, it feels filled with fear and uncertainty. What could happen? What might go wrong? Whether it’s worrying about finances, health, or relationships, the unknown future often grips us with crippling anxiety. Yet, too often, we focus too much on either what has already happened or what may come, and we neglect the power of the present moment. In a world full of distractions—social media, consumerism, and constant busyness—we can easily detach from the here and now, using the past to shape the future, rather than living fully in the present.

At Renaissance Sanctuary, we understand that true transformation begins with deeply exploring the past. By understanding our history—our experiences, traumas, and how our mind has evolved—we can begin to untangle the patterns that have shaped who we are today. We help you dissect the past to understand the ‘why’ behind your actions and emotions and then use that awareness to look at your present situation. How did you get to this point? What are the underlying factors at play? Once you understand your present, you can use new tools and insights to navigate your future, building fear-free aspirations. The key is in breaking free from the mind’s grip, letting go of old fears, and learning to control our emotions. At Renaissance Sanctuary, we guide you in understanding how the past, present, and future are all interconnected. Through deep self-reflection, we help you reconstruct these elements with clarity, empowering you to live fully in the present without the weight of the past or the anxiety of the future. When you leave, you will have a firm understanding and peace of mind about how each part of your life plays a role, knowing that you hold the tools to transform your future.

  • At the Renaissance Sanctuary, we believe true transformation goes beyond the retreat experience, which is why aftercare is integral to the journey. Unlike many other programs, whether coaching, mindfulness, rehabilitation, or yoga retreats, where you often leave with no ongoing support, we are committed to walking with you every step of the way. Before you arrive, we spend six hours together to build rapport and truly understand your life, ensuring you don’t need to repeat your story when you get here. This allows you to fully immerse yourself in the seven days at The Sanctuary, without the weight of rehashing past experiences. But our care doesn’t stop there. When you leave, you will have ongoing support to navigate any obstacles that may arise, with tools in place to help you make decisions and feel spiritually grounded. Aftercare is included as part of your package, and you’ll have access to us via a direct line for calls, emails, or messages whenever you need. You can choose aftercare for three months, six months, or even a year. With the full cost of £5,000, which covers accommodation, meals, and the entire process, you will know that you are not alone after your time at the sanctuary. It’s a level of support that is rare and invaluable, and it’s our commitment to ensuring that your transformation journey continues long after you leave.
